JOB TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT

Work readiness, skill development, and job placement

Promoting Avenues to Employment (PAVE) offers job training, occupational skills training, internships, and other employment and education-related opportunities. For general PAVE information and questions about eligibility, contact us at paveinfo@newavenues.org or 503.517.3935, and visit our program web page.

Orientation

Attend Orientation to learn more about PAVE services and eligibility and to ask questions about the program.

Career Lab

Open to youth for employment- and school-related needs, including job searching, resume writing, applying to college, and other support and resources.

Job Readiness Training

JRT is an online, self-paced program that participants attend to learn about job-search strategies, resume building, cover-letter writing, interview skills, and career exploration. Participants must attend Orientation, complete a referral/interest form, and meet with a program staff member prior to starting JRT. Visit our program webpage for more information.

College Prep and Enrollment Assistance

Students can receive tutoring and other support services to prepare for and enroll in college.

Comprehensive Program Enrollment

JRT graduates are eligible to apply for our three-year comprehensive career and college support program. Each participant is assigned to a PAVE Employment Specialist, who provides support and connects them to appropriate services, including paid work experiences, financial assistance with occupational trainings and licenses, access to interview clothes and transportation assistance, and one-on-one job and college assistance and support.

Professional Mentoring

JRT graduates and youth participating in other New Avenues programs receive group and/or individual mentoring from members of the business community as they set goals and explore career and educational opportunities.
